PGI Dive Club Minutes of March 18, 2010
Name tags were distributed to those in attendance, each meeting we will pick up our name tag and then turn it in at the end of the meeting. Our meeting began @ 7:05 PM.

Secretary’s Report: (Barbara Panhuise) Minutes from 3/3/2010 were read and approved.

Treasurer’s Report: (Don Bergman) Dues will be collected tonight so that we may open our checking account tomorrow with Wachovia Bank. We have a letter from the PGICA to allow us to open up an account as a club in their organization. We also have a copy of the PGICA tax free number to use as guidelines permit.

Old Business: We asked for anyone who would be interested in serving as VP for the club; (Karan Beezley) has agreed to serve as our vice president until elections can take place at the end of this year. President (Frank Panhuise) will work on the constitution and by laws over the next month, and present a working copy to the members for them to review. The liability waiver form will also be presented for the membership to review. Website development is progressing under Doug Jones. We now have the funds to contract GoDaddy.com as our host. We also discussed how PGI Dive Club membership cards would be developed by Marilyn Jorgensen and what the benefits would be by having the card.

New Business: The first presentation of our club logo was made my Skip Reed. Vanessa Cournoyer and Brenda McGinnis said that they would also help in developing some logo artwork for us to review at our next meeting. The possibility of getting “Buffalo Graphics” or some other graphic arts company to work on a club banner for us were discussed. Announcements about upcoming scuba instruction and seminars were made. We also set our sites on a Venice Beach dive on Saturday April 17th. Frank Panhuise will present a program on how to do this beach dive and how to look for shark tooth fossils at our next meeting on April 15th. Discussion of future boat dives in Pompano, Fort Myers Beach, and Key Largo …also the possibility of doing a fresh water springs dive in upstate Florida was mentioned. Upcoming boat charter trips through Jim Joseph at Fantasea Scuba were announced.

Safety and Fitness: Emphasis and review concerning levels of diving experience and ongoing education and personal fitness were discussed. Calendar dates for upcoming Nitrox certification classes through Fantasea Scuba in Port Charlotte were mentioned.

Dive Reports: None, but we hopefully will have a Bonaire trip report given by Jack and Laura Ferrell at our next meeting.

Next Meeting will be April 15th @ 7 PM here in our association building.
