PGI Dive Club Minutes of January 24, 2013

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm by Frank Panhuise

Secretary's Report: Secretary's report was read and approved.

Treasurer's Report: Balance in the treasury is $1686.93. As it stands now, the hotel credit we have with the Holiday Inn of Key Largo for the April 2013 trip is $1606.56. We also have dedicated funds in the treasury for the Keys Diver and Snorkel Center towards the April trip. We have 17 paid members for 2013 prior to tonight's meeting. Club treasurer's report was approved as read.

Membership: We had one new member join the club. We welcome Jack Courtney to our club.

Old Business: There are currently 8 divers signed up and paid for the Key Largo dives April 27 and 28 of next year. Hotel check in will be April 26. Any more members who may now be planning to join that trip should now notify Frank and send him the funds to pay for the trip.

New Business: Thanks to Skip Reed for serving as our treasurer last year. At our January meeting, we reorganized our club officers for 2013, Terri Tretrault will be serving as the new treasurer for 2013; other officers remain the same. Dues were due, and everyone signed waivers for the PGICA . Some members need to submit their "C" cards. Doug Jones reported on the state of the website and will be adding a new "classifieds" section to the website for members to sell or swap items. Frank thanked those attending club socials and will organize another social in February at the new Plaza Mexico restaurant in Port Charlotte. Barbe Koss and Paul Joly will be hosting another St. Patty's day party this year at their home in March. Frank will look into setting up another club dive trip this coming March down in the Keys. Frank also commented on what a nice shore dive the Blue Herron Bridge is over on the East Coast. Frank again emphasized the Mohawk Dive and that if members want to go out on their own boats, we could put a trip together. The club will look into selling embroidered shirts with our logo. Marilyn Jorgensen will contact a vendor to get things rolling.

Member Issues: Members suggested the policy of taking outsiders on our trips, and want to be sure that present members all get ample notice to sign up for club dives. We also need 4 more divers to be able to charter the boat on Sat. April 27th. This will save the club some costs for the trip. Karan and Eddie Beezley are getting into treasure hunting and have a new sonar outfit, if anyone else has interest in this, they would like to get others involved.

Dive Calendar: Club dive in Key Largo on April 27th and 28th. The boat will hold 18 people, so please contact Frank Panhuise if interested. Reservations at the Holiday Inn are available at a reduced rate for divers on this trip.

Next Meeting: February 28th. Meeting was adjourned at 8:15 pm..
